Associate Professor Alauddin’s research specialisation and interests include:

He has co-authored and co-edited four books published by internationally reputed publishers. Published more than 75 refereed journal articles and 24 book chapters, one edited conference volume, and one research monograph.
Associate Professor Alauddin has all four top journals in the field of development economics: Economic Development and Cultural Change, Journal of Development Economics, Journal of Development Studies, and World Development. He has also published in four leading journals in the field of environmental and resource economics: Ecological Economics, Environmental and Resource Economics, Journal of Environmental Economics and Management, and Land Use Policy. His other publication outlets include internationally reputed applied economics journals: Agricultural Economics, Applied Economics, Development and Change, Food Policy, and Oxford Bulletin of Economics and Statistics.
His research has been funded by grants from International Labour Organisation (ILO), Australian Research Council (ARC) and Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR), and South West Fisheries Science Centre, National Marine Fisheries Science, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, US Department of Commerce.
