High school engagement

High school students—the change makers of tomorrow.

High school students and their teachers are invited to attend our annual events, run in partnership with the Queensland Economics Teachers Association (QETA) and the International Education Services College (IES). These events give future students a sense of what it's like to study at UQ and how they can use economics to forge careers that will make an impact.

Throughout the year, the UQ School Liason Team will also make contact with economics teachers, guidance officers and principals to notify them of new and revised programs, scholarship opportunities and updated specialisation profiles.

High school students and their teachers can get a taste of university life with these online resources. Hear from current students, watch lecture-style presentations and read thought-provoking articles involving the real-world application of economics.
QETA UQ Economics Competition
This long-running competition requires participants to answer 40 multiple-choice questions in 45 minutes, covering topics related to current economics events and core units of the Queensland high school economics curriculum.
Foundation Student Day
IES provides international students with a pathway to studying at UQ. The Foundation Student Day involves a lecture and lunch for high school students, giving them the information they need to successfully gain entry into an economics program.
