Course fees
Australian citizens can defer payment of fees through the FEE-HELP scheme. This is the postgraduate equivalent of HECS.
Flexibility
We offer an exceptionally flexible mode of study to complete your program. You can take up to 10 years to complete your program.
You can enrol in a masters and decide to exit early with a graduate certificate or diploma as long as you have completed the required courses. See program's exit provisions under Additional Rules.
Financial assistance
Currently enrolled full-time students experiencing financial disadvantage can apply for a $3000 bursary from January 2021 (the Norman C Maddock Bursary and the Jean W Maddock Bursary).
For current UQ students
Are you currently studying Arts, Business Management, Commerce, Engineering, Law, Mathematics or Science at UQ and shopping around for a postgraduate economics qualification to add to your bachelor's degree?
If you are half-way or less through your degree program, you may want to compare doing a postgraduate qualification with switching to a dual undergraduate degree with Economics. It may save you time and money. Please check the relevant program plan below and contact the BEL Student Centre for advice about what's involved for you.
Bachelor (dual degree) programs | Full-time duration |
---|---|
Economics/Arts | 4 years |
Economics/Business Management | 4 years |
Economics/Commerce | 4 years |
Economics/Engineering (Honours) | 5.5 years |
Economics/Laws (Honours) | 5 years |
Economics/Mathematics | 4 years |
Economics/Science | 4 years |
Economics/Computer Science | 4 years |
Course credit and exemptions
If you have previously completed economics studies at postgraduate level, you may apply for course credit. If you have completed economics studies at undergraduate level you can apply for an exemption from having to repeat a similar core course. You can explore the UQ Credit Precedent Database to see if your course has already been recognised.
What does credit and exemption mean at UQ?
At UQ, if credit is granted, this will reduce the number of courses/units you need to complete. If you are granted an exemption from a compulsory core course, an elective course must be completed instead, so that you can extend your knowledge-base.
Request credit or exemption online after you have accepted an offer.
Library services
