Abstract
Associate Professor Jo Ingold will talk about her book, Employer Engagement: Making active labour market policies work (Bristol University Press, February 2023). The book (co-edited with Patrick McGurk, Queen Mary University of London) is the first text on employer engagement in active labour market policies/ programmes (ALMP). It aims to arrive at a clearer understanding of how employers may contribute to ALMPs in a way that successfully secures sustained employment for people who are often widely left outside the workplace. The book includes contributions from leading scholars on this topic from the UK, the US, Australia, Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark and Germany and includes practice case study chapters by practitioners. The text provides a primer on this topic for students, researchers, policymakers and practitioners and offers a roadmap for improving employer engagement in ALMP across countries.
