UQ School of Economics PhD candidate Kieran Gibson has been awarded a prestigious Fulbright Scholarship.
Mr Gibson is a behavioural economist and is heading to the University of California, San Diego to study the underlying reasons why people engage in helpful behaviour.
“My research will give policy makers a toolkit of incentives that amplify our existing tendencies to be helpful, rather than undermine them,” he said.
“I’m excited to work with a leading researcher in my field on a new project about incentives and charitable contributions.”
The Fulbright Scholarship Program gives Australian researchers the opportunity to take part in an academic and cultural exchange at a US institution.
Mr Gibson is one of four UQ researchers who will travel to the US to solve global challenges with their international counterparts.
