The School of Economics at The University of Queensland offers a three-year scholarship, for an outstanding Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Island student who is seeking admission to the Bachelor of Economics (BEcon) degree at The University of Queensland (UQ).

The scholarship is available to Aboriginal or Torres Strait Island students completing Year 12. Students who have completed a gap year are also eligible to apply. 

Basis of Award

  • Criteria based on broad academic achievement in Years 11 and 12, and demonstrated financial need. Interviews may be required.
  • Previous study of economics at school or college is not required for enrolment in the BEcon degree, nor for the scholarship.
  • Students with a strong maths/science background are encouraged to apply.
  • For successful scholarship candidates seeking to undertake the BEcon as part of a dual program, the scholarship will cover the BEcon component i.e. 36 units required for the BEcon.
